Our Diwali Night

Diwali is also know as 'Deepavali' is the Festival of Lights. It is India‚Äôs best-loved festival, and is an ancient Hindu festival that symbolises the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. It also represents the renewal of life. It is a time for celebration in India and by Indian diasporas abroad, with families lighting lamps, candles and fireworks. The Hindu Society of Tasmania hold Diwali NIght Celebratin in Hobart which will include scrumptious meal and diverse cultural programmes. The cultural programmes will include performing arts, bollywood dance and music.


Diwali is celebrated in honor of Goddess Lakshmi. Diwali is celebrated with honor great devotion. Diyas (lamps) and candles will be lighted to illuminate the house.  Families and friends will be invited to add more joy to Diwali celebrations. The major excitement of Diwali is the bursting of crackers and fireworks.

The other rejoicing aspect of Diwali is preparation and eating the sweets. Diwali also celebrated to mark the return of Rama to Ayodhya after his defeat of Ravana.
